Truck accident destroys historic Massachusetts restaurant

The historic Old Grist Mill Tavern in Seekonk, Mass., was destroyed in a fire after a tractor trailer rounded a corner too quickly, and struck a gas main and utility line.

According to a news report on WPRO radio, a neighbor said he “heard a big bang when I was getting out of bed this morning and I heard a big rushing wind, sounded like a jet engine or something. So I came down here and the tractor trailer came around the corner too fast I guess and rolled over right into the building and snapped off the gas main and that’s what caused the explosion.”

The truck driver was rushed to the hospital. No details were available on his condition.
